Review : Internet Download Manager

Internet Download Manager is a great tool for those who are on slow dial-up connection or facing slow downloading speed. with the help of IDM the user will  get tremendous high speed downloading that will boost up the overall downloading speed by near about 300%- 500%. so it will increase our downloading speed by 5 times than the current speed of your internet, isn’t it great tool? there are so many benefits of using Internet Download Manager and i will list out them in this article so do read it properly if you want to know more about IDM and its use.

IDM is a great download manager which helps you to increase your downloading speed up to the great extent and the files which were taking 5-10 minutes to download now that can be downloaded in few minutes.  firstly of course you need to have this great tool to get all benefits. after installing in your machine whenever you open it up it will show you a pop-up of some tips that you would surely like to know about how ot use this tool in well effective manner. some small tips which are quite essential to know and all other things. see the below screenshot to understand in a proper way.

if you dont want this box to be appear on every start up than you can hide it also by unchecking the “Show Tips on StartUp“. now it will not come when ever you open the IDM. the home screen of IDM is also very user friendly and easy to operate. there are various options available on toolbar for user to play around wit it. the home screen contains one part which shows your complete download history of file and other part is divided into categories like:

1. All Downloads.
2. Unfinished.
3. Finished.
4. Grabber.
5. Queues.

On of the great feature that i liked the most is that it automatically detects the files and provides the download button to download it.  that’s a great option because sometimes some files doesn’t provides the option to download it at that times IDM is a handy tool to have. when you click any file to download it will get automatically downloaded by Internet Download Manager and  a pop-up will come up and ask you to download this or not and also where your want to save the downloaded file(In which directories.)

after choosing the proper location to save your file click on “Start Download” button to start your download and you will see with in 3-4 minutes your download is completed(deffer as per the size of files). and after downloading it it will provide you 3 option, either to open that files directly or to open the folder where that files has been stored or cancel it and open it afterwords. see below two screenshot regarding this options.

it never happens or you want to add some files manually to be downloaded by IDM than there is a option in the home screen to add Direct URL to Download a file. just click on that and it will ask you to enter the URL and and your file will be downloaded.

are you a video lover? you love to download videos from YouTube? than this is what you need to have. my favorite and the best features of IDM is that it provides a direct download button/option for the YouTube videos, so you don’t need to have any so called YouTube Video Downloader or any other browser add-on to download YouTube videos. you get a straight option to download the videos from the YouTube it self. isn’t it great?

IDM also support many browser. you can go to the options and select which ever browser you need to configure it with the Internet Download Manager.

another option provided in IDM is Scheduler option. you can schedule the future download and can provide start and stop time for download and after the download is over you can set the option to turn off the pc directly.

• Batch Downloading : this option provides you to download multiple files at a time.
• Resume : you can resume unfinished download files.
• Site Grabber : it can download whole site including pictures, and other files.

Users Feedback/Opinion About IDM :

While writing this article i asked on the Facebook Fan Page of GeekyGyaan to proivde their views on Internet Download Manager and here is the view point of few of them:

Barney Like : There are some websites which allow a certain limit in the number of downloads so sometimes IDM will not be able to download these files. In my case it was an audiobook which I could not download. But I would like to add this was 2 years back so I do not know the newer version.

Malkhaz Abuladze :  I think that it is a great download manager, but it has one , it has not torrent download!

Personally i am using this software from quite a time and seriously loving it. i also recommend you all to go for this software and purchased it from the official site because its worth it and you need to have software like this which are really beneficial. so there is no doubt about how many start we are going to give it for IDM. its just a suggestion that IDM should be available as add-on for Mobile Phone browser also, what say?
